Experience:
Dr. Huckabee began her career in education as an English teacher at Dutch Fork High School before moving to Chapin High School. She has taught English 1, 2, 3, and 4, AP Language and Composition, and Public Speaking. She became Assistant Principal of Instruction at CMS in 2019 and Principal in 2021. Away from education, Dr. Huckabee's experiences include the private sector with almost a decade in the pharmaceutical industry and work in fitness production, choreography, and promotion.
She believes we must meet students exactly where they are and that students must know they are fully valued in order to learn best. Dr. Huckabee frequently refers to "roots and wings" and the understanding that our students must have strong foundations in the standards and skills we are charged with leading them through so they can lead themselves as learners well beyond their time with us. She challenges all stakeholders in CMS to seek out ways to continuously improve practices so that the focus of our work can be supporting and growing our students.
Education
Dr. Huckabee received her B.A. in Journalism, MAT in English, M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees in Educational Leadership, and her Ed.D. in Education Systems Improvement from the University of South Carolina.
